The Govt. Polytechnic, Sirsa was started initially with an annual intake of 30 seats. The institute has constantly made gains in quality and quantity since its inception. At present the institution is offering the following Diploma level courses

All of these programmes are properly accredited by AICTE and connected to the Haryana State Board of Technical Education. State Board of Technical Education, Haryana, Chandigarh administers the tests on a semester basis.
Along with the aforementioned programmes, the institute also offers a Community Development programme with support from the Central Government.
Non-formal education programmes are offered in rural regions as part of the Community Development Scheme to help poor rural residents. There are currently facilities operating under this programme that teach skills in electrical work, soft toy and flower manufacturing, computer application, painting, cutting and tailoring, and beauty culture.All these courses are duly recognized by AICTE and affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education, Haryana. The examinations are conducted by State Board of Technical Education, Haryana, Chandigarh on semester basis
